Why is space dark?

???

You ask: Why space dark?

Day sky bright because air. Air full of tiny bits that grab sun light and bounce it everywhere — whole sky glow. Space have no air. No bits to bounce light. So light in space fly straight, quiet, invisible — Caveman only see light when it fly straight into Caveman eye from star, or bounce off moon rock. Even moon rock dark like old ash — bounce back only about one light-bit in eight, swallow the rest. Everywhere else look black, even with sun light flying through it. And why night not glow from endless stars? Universe not endless-old — light from farthest stars not reach here yet, and stretching space stretch old light too weak for eye. Cave wisdom: space not empty of light. Space just have nothing for light to bounce off.
